Riviera of the Cyclops and Beer Tasting

The excursion Riviera of the Cyclops will be divided in three phases:

You will start with a walk in the places of the Homeric Myth of Ulysses to the Castle of Aci. We will discover the origins of Etna and the places described in the literature of Verga. You will visit the Norman Castle of Aci (the basaltic promontory, where rises the castle, was separated from the mainland by an arm of the sea, which was completely filled by the eruption of 1169).

After that, we will continue towards the lava rock on which the castle was built. You will observe the lava walls (where you can recognize the “pillows” with almost spherical shape, that originated from the opening of a fracture in the seabed).

After leaving the castle, we will reach Aci Trezza, a seaside village where nature and charm merge, discovering small glimpses, intense colours and secular traditions of the waterfront.
You will visit the port of Aci Trezza in the shade of the legendary Faraglioni of the Cyclops.

The legend of the Faraglioni of the Cyclops is narrated by Homer in the Odyssey and was placed by tradition to Aci Trezza.

Ulysses, in his voyage had the misfortune to bump into Polyphemus, one of the fierce cyclops (monstrous and gigantic shepherds with one eye), which dominated the Etna Valley.

At the end, you will reach the cave of the myth, a craft brewery, at the foot of Etna, where it will take place a guided tour with an explanation of the entire production process. You will finish the excursion with a tasting menu, which consists of: 6 craft beers carefully selected by sommeliers to enhance the uniqueness of typical sicilian products; light lunch (menu suitable for vegans/vegetarians/gluten intolerant and for children on request).
